Metabolic parameters and responsiveness of isolated iliac artery in LDLr.

American journal of cardiovascular disease

Garcia NF, Sponton AC, Delbin MA, Parente JM, Castro MM, Zanesco A, de Moraes C.
PMID: 28533932
Am J Cardiovasc Dis. 2017 Apr 15;7(2):64-71. eCollection 2017.

Physical inactivity and dyslipidemia are considered risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. There are few studies evaluating the effects of physical exercise in small-caliber artery in a model that mimics familial hypercholesterolemia. The aim of this study was to examine...

Beneficial effect of melatonin treatment on age-related insulin resistance and on the development of type 2 diabetes.

Hormone molecular biology and clinical investigation

Tresguerres JA, Cuesta S, Kireev RA, Garcia C, Acuña-Castroviejo D, Vara E.
PMID: 25436746
Horm Mol Biol Clin Investig. 2013 Dec;16(2):47-54. doi: 10.1515/hmbci-2013-0041.

Abstract This paper will review the effect of aging on glucose metabolism and insulin resistance in pancreas and in peripheral tissues and how melatonin administration could affect these parameters. In SAMP8 mice insulin levels in plasma were found to...

Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2015;2015:212378. doi: 10.1155/2015/212378. Epub 2015 Apr 14.

Vitex agnus-castus (VAC) is a plant that has recently been used to treat the symptoms of menopause, by its actions on the central nervous system. However, little is known about its actions on disturbances in lipid metabolism and nonalcoholic...

Use of vitamin d3 and its metabolites in broiler chicken feed on performance, bone parameters and meat quality.

Asian-Australasian journal of animal sciences

Asian-Australas J Anim Sci. 2013 Mar;26(3):408-15. doi: 10.5713/ajas.2012.12455.

The objective of this experiment was to assess the use of different vitamin D metabolites in the feed of broiler chickens and the effects of the metabolites on performance, bone parameters and meat quality. A total of 952 one-day-old...

Cobalt-Catalyzed Cross-Benzannulation of Conjugated Enynes and Diynes.

The Journal of organic chemistry

Röse P, Garcia CC, Pünner F, Harms K, Hilt G.
PMID: 26084604
J Org Chem. 2015 Jul 17;80(14):7311-6. doi: 10.1021/acs.joc.5b01198. Epub 2015 Jul 02.

The [4 + 2] cross-benzannulation of conjugated enynes and diynes under cobalt-catalysis led to 1,2,3-trisubstituted benzene derivatives in good yields. The reaction proceeds smoothly in absolute regiospecific control when symmetrical diynes are applied. Moreover, the use of unsymmetrical diynes...

Ancestral association between HLA and HFE H63D and C282Y gene mutations from northwest Colombia.

Genetics and molecular biology

A significant association between HFE gene mutations and the HLA-A*03-B*07 and HLA-A*29-B*44 haplotypes has been reported in the Spanish population. It has been proposed that these mutations are probably connected with Celtic and North African ancestry, respectively. We aimed...

Case Report: Mammary and rectal metastases from an ovarian cancer: report of two cases and review of literature.

J Pathol Inform. 2016 Apr 11;7:14. doi: 10.4103/2153-3539.179904. eCollection 2016.

BACKGROUND: Although pathology informatics (PI) is essential to modern pathology practice, the field is often poorly understood. Pathologists who have received little to no exposure to informatics, either in training or in practice, may not recognize the roles that...

We describe the synthesis and self-assembly of an asparagine-derived amphiphile. The self-assembled systems formulated with the inclusion of cholesterol (0-50 mol%) show encapsulation for a hydrophobic model drug and rapidly disintegrate in response to mild acidic conditions.
