Abstract

A total of 50 patients with the left coronary artery trunk stenosed by more than 50 per cent were examined. General clinical methods, ECG under physical efforts and selective coronarography were employed. According to the authors this amounts to 6.4% of all corronarographically investigated patients. A comparison of the results derived from these investigations furnished fairly reliable clinical signs suggesting the existence of the stenosed trunk prior to coronarography. The authors feel that a preliminary diagnosis of such a lesion dictates an urgent coronarography. A careful and reserved approach to the investigation and a number of modifications in the procedure used by the authors are factors substantially diminishing the risk of this investigation.
