Abstract

Autogenous bone graft is the best biologic material available to repair a skeletal defect. These necrotic grafts are revascularized and repaired through creeping substitution to provide an almost identical structure for the one it replaced. There is a limited supply of autogenous bone, but it is the standard against which other methods should be measured.
