Abstract

This chapter provides a discussion on equity in STEM education, gender and minority gaps in the STEM workforce and how the STEM SOS model helps to close these gaps and overcome the underrepresentation of women and minorities in STEM majors and the STEM workforce. “STEM for All” is one of the five core values of Harmony Public Schools and it implies that in Harmony, every student will graduate with a strong understanding and appreciation of STEM and how it connects to the real world. This chapter is intentionally titled Equity in STEM and STEM for All since we believe and have observed that the “STEM for All” approach to STEM education empirically helps in closing the gaps in equity in STEM Education. © 2015 Sense Publishers.
